Today, just people! – Conference "Disability - Punishment or Divine Gift?"

Solidarity, Empathy and Social Inclusion for People with Disabilities

On November 23, 2024, Toplița became the host of a remarkable event – the conference “Disability - Punishment or God's Gift?” , organized by the Association of Parents of Children with Disabilities Toplița (APCDT) . This unique initiative brought together inspirational guests, impressive artistic moments and an engaged community, all in support of social inclusion and solidarity with people with disabilities.

The central message, "We are all human, we deserve acceptance and support" , was the common thread of the entire event, captivating and moving the audience present.

Event Purpose: Rights and Social Inclusion for People with Disabilities

The main objective of this conference was to promote the rights of people with disabilities and raise awareness of the stigmas they face on a daily basis. The organizers highlighted the importance of social integration through concrete projects, such as the construction of a day center for children and adults with disabilities , which is already in an advanced planning phase.

Mihăiță Zaiț , president of APCDT, opened the event with an emotional speech: "This event is not just about disabilities, but about humanity. It is about how we can transform vulnerability into strength through mutual support and understanding."

Memorable Moments and Inspirational Guests

The conference was structured in two distinct parts: the first included motivational speeches, and the second, artistic moments that instilled the spirit of the holidays.

Special guests: Lessons of life and hope

  • Petra Pintelei , a model of perseverance and courage, shared her impressive story. Blind from birth, Petra demonstrated that disability does not define a person's limits. A graduate of two faculties and speaking six languages, she conveyed a powerful message: "Life with a disability is not a burden, but a mission. The impossible becomes possible through work and support."

  • Daniel Buzdugan , a well-known radio host, spoke about the role of empathy and community: "In an increasingly digitalized world, events like this remind us that human values are more important than technology."

  • Priest Protopope Apostol Dumitru brought a spiritual note, emphasizing that disability can be seen as a divine gift, a call to love and acceptance.

Emotional artistic moments

  • The "Arhanghelii" choir offered an impressive recital, bringing an atmosphere of peace and reflection. Their harmonious voice touched the hearts of the audience, transmitting a message of spiritual communion.

  • The carol concert , performed by Priest Florian Popa and Archdeacon Valentin Vădănoiu , was the highlight of the evening. Their performances evoked the magic of Christmas, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and hope.

  • Ionel Simota , a sensitive poet, presented his creations, urging the audience to reflect on human values. His poems were complemented by recitations by Gheorghe Filip , who gave voice to the verses of the poet ZAM , evoking homesickness and love.

An Ambitious Project: Day Center for People with Disabilities

The event was also a platform to promote the day center project, an essential initiative to support children and adults with disabilities. It will offer specialized therapies, counseling and educational activities, representing a point of support for families.

Mihăiță Zaiț thanked the community for the support provided so far: "Every contribution counts. Together, we build a better future for those who need us."

Conference Lessons: We Are All Human

The conference "Disability - Punishment or Divine Gift?" was an event that brought to the forefront the power of community to change destinies. The central message - "We are all human" - reminded everyone that every act of kindness has a profound impact.

Petra Pintelei concluded by inspiring everyone: "Each of us has a mission on this earth. Supporting others is part of this mission."
